About my art

In early 2021, I was kicked out of the place I was living. This had been threatened a few times but always brushed off the following morning, so the situation was abrupt. I ended up moving in with a friend for a few months while trying to find a place to live.
While living there, I was processing what had been a traumatic and abusive living situation, and trying to learn how to exist without feeling like I wasn't allowed to. I had to be reminded constantly, by myself and others, that I was allowed access to things, and that no one was there to restrict that access or say I couldn't have them.
It was during this time that I started these drawings, as a way of processing, coping, and working through trauma. As a way of unlearning certain habits and fears, things I'd been told or pushed to believe.
By sharing these designs and giving them their own space in the world, I hope the right people will see them, and that maybe it will give them what they need.

Exist

This design is to remind people that it is okay to be who you are. There is nothing wrong with you, and no one can tell you otherwise. You are allowed to exist.

Fault

This design is to remind people that they didn't ask for mistreatment. The way you were treated is not your fault.

Time

This design is a reminder that it's okay to take breaks, and it's okay if you need space to process or recover. It's okay if you need some time.

Valid

This one is a reminder that no matter what gender you are or who you like or what you like, you're valid and it's okay to be who you are. Your identity is valid.

Brick

This one is a reminder that you matter. You are special. You are important. You are more than just a brick in the wall.
